DENTON (Feb. 24, 2019) — Softball returned to action on Thursday, capping a three-game series against Eastern New Mexico, falling to the Greyhounds 6-1.
"We're not putting a complete game together," head coach
Amber Barker said. "We've gotta go back to the drawing board."
The Pioneers were held to one run on eight hits, stranding eight runners. Trailing 2-0 through the first two innings,
Paige Tamayo drove in the lone run of the ballgame in the third inning when she connected on a single that scored
Kalina Sato.
A four-run seventh inning for the Greyhounds put the game out of reach as the Pioneers dropped their third game in a row.
"We have the talent," Barker added. "We're just going to have to figure it out and put it together."
Tylia Sylestine finished the afternoon 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of walks while
Taylor Goulet connected with a double during her lone plate appearance in the sixth inning.
Next for the Pioneers will be a tough road challenge against the reigning South Central Region Champion, Angelo State Rambelles. The three-game series is set to begin with a single game on Friday at 6 p.m.
