As an NCAA Division II program, TWU takes great pride in the principles outlined by the NCAA Division II Strategic Positioning Platform. Within this statement, there are six attributes which serve as the pillars of the Division II philosophy:
- Learning: multiple opportunities to broaden knowledge and skills
- Service: positive societal attitude through contributions to community
- Balance: emphasis on collective knowledge; integration of skills
- Passion: enthusiastic dedication and desire in effort
- Resourcefulness: versatile skill set drawn from broad range of experiences
- Sportsmanship: respect for fairness, courtesy; ethical conduct toward others
Each one of these attributes contributes an enhanced sense of purpose and value to our mission. Perhaps the most rewarding of these, in the eyes of our student-athletes, is service.
Texas Woman’s University Athletics enjoys a wonderful relationship with the Denton community, receiving avid support from our hometown fans and giving back through service and contribution to our neighbors. TWU student-athletes completed well over 1,000 hours of service to the Denton community. The Pioneers participate in numerous events and causes that benefit organizations such as the United Way of Denton County, Denton Animal Shelter Foundation, Keep Denton Beautiful, and the Texas Adopt-A-Highway program. Each team dedicates one of its home games or meets to breast cancer awareness to raise funds for a cure.
