ST. CHARLES, Mo. (March 5, 2017) – The Pioneers of Texas Woman's University took their second win of the weekend with a 194.350-192.600 victory over Wisconsin-Whitewater while falling short to MIC opponent Lindenwood's overall score of 195.275 Sunday afternoon inside Robert F. Hyland Arena. Since
being defeated by LU Feb. 5, TWU has raised their team score 1.450 points and also increased their Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) to a 194.350, .330 higher than Lindenwood.
The Pioneers started competition on uneven bars and made a 0.725 improvement since their previous meet at Southeastern Missouri State Friday.
Schyler Jones started off by scoring a strong 9.650,
Taylor Vincent swung to a 9.550 and
Hunter Vincent came in with a 9.500.
Bria Northrop made an appearance and posted a 9.675.
Katie Simpson climbed to a 9.775 and
Jenna Cashmore echoed Simpson with a 9.775. The bar crew ended the first rotation with a 48.425.
Head Coach
Lisa Bowerman and her team had a confident beam rotation. Simpson continued to show consistency with a 9.7000.
Mallory Moredock set a career-high with a 9.850 and Alderman fed off the positivity to produce a 9.800. Northrop looked strong scoring a 9.725,
Taylor Vincent tallied a 9.800 and Jones came in with a 9.100. The Pioneers remained in second place and had a rotation score of 48.875, their best of the day.
Floor exercise proved once again to be an exciting event for the Pioneers.
Hope Parkin put up a 9.000 and Moredock continued to have a good meet scoring a 9.750. Abbie Versemann brought her team a 9.600 and Simpson strut to a 9.675. Alderman and her Irish-themed music inspired a 9.675 and Jones anchored with a stunning 9.850. Floor exercise was the team's second best rotation of the meet with a 48.550.
Vault was the final rotation for TWU. Cashmore flipped and scored a 9.575,
Brandi Lazarus a 9.650 and
Hunter Vincent a 9.625. Moredock tied her career-high with a powerful 9.775, Simpson sprinted for a 9.625 and Jones anchored with the highest score for her team on vault with a 9.825. Vault was the first rotation to finish and the Pioneers awaited the team results after their rotation score of 48.500.
TWU placed in all four events, starting with vault, as Jones tied for the second-place spot. Two Pioneers were on the podium for uneven bars with Simpson tying for second alongside teammate Cashmore. Jones placed second on floor exercise and Simpson took gold in the all-around competition while Jones took bronze.

MIC Championships will be the next competition for the Pioneers Saturday, March 18, in Chicago against Illinois –Chicago, Centenary, Illinois State, Lindenwood and Southeast Missouri State.
