DENTON, Texas (Feb. 5) – The TWU gymnastics team finished fourth  in the quad meet against No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 10 Auburn and Illinois State Friday night in Kitty Magee Arena.
 
OU capture the title with a 197.925 while Auburn finished second with a 196.825, ISU placed third with a 191.975 and TWU scored a 191.550.  The highlight of the meet came when OU's Chayse Capps scored a career-high and a perfect 10.000 on beam.
 
The Pioneers opened the meet on vault and scored a season-high 48.450.  TWU was led by sophomore Schyler Jones with a 9.850, which ties her career high.  Freshman Megan Gentry also posted a 9.750.
 
The Pioneers then posted a 47.475 on bars in the second rotation.  Freshman Jenna Cashmore was the team leader with a 9.675.
 
TWU counted two falls on beam in the third rotation and scored a 47.575.  Sophomore Taylor Vincent led the Pioneers with a 9.775 while Jones finished with a 9.725.
 
TWU regrouped and finished with another season-high on floor in the final rotation.  Three Pioneers scored a 9.675 or better led by Jones with a 9.775.  Freshman Erin Alderman scored a 9.750 while sophomore Mallory Moredock finished with a 9.675.
 
"Overall we had some highlights but we still continued to make the same mistakes," said TWU head coach Lisa Bowerman.  "Schyler had another solid meet in the all-around.  It was nice to see her finding consistency and build on last week.  Mallory also performed well.  She has been up and down this season and it is nice to see her in the beam line-up.  She did well on all three events she competed in today."
 
The Pioneers will return to action when they travel to Shreveport, LA, to compete in a tri-meet on Saturday, Feb. 13.  TWU will face the host Centenary and Iowa State at 6:00 p.m. in The Gold Dome.
