DENTON, Texas (Nov. 9, 2016) – Texas Woman's University Gymnastics Head Coach
Lisa Bowerman announced Paige Stuyniski from Brooklyn, Conn., as a signee for the class of 2017 on Wednesday.
Stuyniski hails from Woodstock Academy in Woodstock, Conn., where she was a three-time All-Around State Open Champion and the All-Around New England Champion in 2015. She holds the state floor and balance beam record and was named the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Gymnast of the Year three times. Stuyniski was also the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Female Athlete of the Year in 2015-2016 and was a member of the State of CT First Team each year. Her team earned the state championship 2014-16, was the New England Champions in 2014 and was the ECC Champions all four years. Stuyniski was a member of the Athletic Honor Society and was named to the Honor Roll each year.
Bowerman states, "We are extremely excited to add Paige to the TWU Gymnastics family. Paige is exceedingly accomplished both in the competition arena and in the classroom. In addition to her proven success, what has drawn us most to Paige is her values and character and how those things will mesh perfectly with the culture of our program. Paige brings with her not only a wealth of talent and experience, but also a great passion for our sport and for this team that pours out of her in all that she does. She is a great teammate and someone who is always motivating every one of her teammates to be their best. She will make an immediate impact on the success of our program in the competition arena."
"I chose TWU because the girls and coaches were all so welcoming, and I immediately felt like I was a part of their family. I also loved the campus, city and their strong Health Sciences programs," Stuyniski explains. "I'm looking forward to learning new things and meeting new people, both in and out of the gym. I think my positive attitude, team spirit, and attention to detail will help the team the most."
The Pioneers are hosting the annual Intrasquad Holiday Spectacular Sunday, Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. inside Kitty Magee Arena before beginning their regular season schedule Jan. 6 at the Arizona Tri-Meet.
