NORMAN, Okla. (Jan. 15) – The TWU gymnastics team finished third in the tri-meet against No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 11 California at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, OK. The host OU captured the meet with a 197.125 while California placed second with a 194.225 and the Pioneers finished with a 188.250.
The Pioneers opened the meet on beam and scored just 46.600 after counting three falls. Junior

Alyssa Kelly were the top scorers for TWU as both posted a 9.700 each.
The Pioneers' struggles continued in the second rotation on floor. TWU posted just 46.325 led by sophomore
Schyler Jones with highest score of 9.600.
The Pioneers regrouped and scored a 48.150 on vault in the third rotation. TWU was once again led by Jones with a 9.725. Freshman
Megan Gentry posted a 9.650 while sophomore
Mallory Moredock scored a 9.625 and sophomore
Brandi Lazarus finished with 9.600.
The Pioneers couldn't carry the momentum into their final rotation on bars. TWU counted two falls and scored a 47.175. The Pioneers were led by Simpson and freshman
Jenna Cashmore with a 9.725 each.
"As a whole tonight was very disappointing," said TWU head coach
Lisa Bowerman. "We came into the night with specific goals on each event. Our plan was to take steps forward and to build on the foundation we laid last week. We did not do that tonight. The good news is, that we will get another opportunity on Sunday. I expect a much stronger performance on all four events."
The Pioneers will return to action when they host a dual meet on Sunday, Jan. 17. TWU will face No. 10 Arizona at 1:00 p.m. in Kitty Magee Arena. The Pioneers will also host a Free Youth Clinic immediately following the meet. The clinic is open for girls in eighth grade and below and will last approximately one hour.
