GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 15) – The TWU gymnastics team scored over 48.000 on three of the four events and finished with their highest road score of the season at #2 Florida on Friday night in Gainesvile. The Pioneers posted a 193.400 in their final 2015 regular season competition while the Gators won the dual meet with a 197.900.
TWU was led once again by freshman
Schyler Jones who finished second in the all-around with a 38.925.
The Pioneers opened the meet on bars and scored a 48.675 after three gymnasts posted a 9.775 or better. Senior
Courtney Cochefski led TWU with a 9.825 while sophomore
Katie Simpson and
Schyler Jones each scored a 9.775.
In the second rotation on vault, TWU counted a fall and scored a 48.050 team score. However, four of the six gymnasts in the Pioneers' vault line-up scored a 9.700 or higher led by freshman
Madison Nettles who tied her career-high with a 9.850.

Mallory Moredock had a new career-high with 9.700.
The Pioneers bounced back to post a 48.750 on floor in the third rotation. TWU again had four gymnasts scored a 9.725 or better led by senior
Spencer Jones with a 9.875.

Kayla Jones scored a 9.725.
TWU stumbled on beam in the final rotation and scored a 47.925 after counting a fall. The Pioneers were led by
Spencer Jones with a 9.850 while
Schyler Jones and freshman
Taylor Vincent scored a 9.700 each.
"We are excited about our highest road score of the season," said TWU head coach
Lisa Bowerman. "It will help us improve our RQS. We had lot of great performances throughout the meet. Unfortunately, we still had to count a few mistakes, but we are looking forward to getting in the gym this week to solidify the final few spots in our line-ups. We will be ready to head into the conference championships with confidence."
The Pioneers will return to Denton to host the 2015 Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) Championships next Saturday, Mar. 21, at 4:00 p.m. TWU will welcome Centenary, Illinois State, Lindenwood, Southeast Missouri State and UIC to Kitty Magee Arena for the annual six-team postseason meet. The Pioneers will be looking to win their third MIC title in school history. TWU won the MIC meet in 2010 (the last time it was held in Denton) and 2006.
