DENTON, Texas (Jan. 27) – TWU senior gymnast
Courtney Cochefski was named the Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) Specialist of the Week for the week of Jan. 20-26. The MIC weekly honor is the first for Cochefski this season and the second of her career.
Cochefski has posted a 9.750 or higher in all three of the Pioneers meets this season including a 9.900 in the team's home opener against NC State this past Sunday, Jan. 25. She scored a 9.750 at #1 Oklahoma's tri-meet on Friday, Jan. 23, before winning the bars event title on Sunday against the Wolfpack. Cochefski also posted a 9.800 in TWU's season opener at Centenary on Jan. 10th.
The Pioneers will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 1, when they host Centenary, San Jose State and Towson in a quad meet at 1:00 p.m. in Kitty Magee Arena. Sunday's competition will be the Pioneers' annual "
Think Pink" meet to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. The TWU gymnasts and coaches will also conduct a
free youth gymnastics clinic immediately following the meet. The clinic will be open to girls in eighth grade and below and will last approximately one-hour.
