TWU's academic streak runs to 56 semesters
DENTON, Texas (June 30) –TWU student-athletes posted a combined grade point average of 3.281 for the 2010 spring semester and extended their winning streak in the classroom to 56 straight semesters – 28 years – with a GPA of 3.0 or better.

“We are very proud of our student-athletes and their academic success,” Director of Athletics Chalese Connors said. “They take ownership of being students first and their hard work continues to pay off. I’m proud of their accomplishments.”

The volleyball team continued to dominate the top spot in the department. For the seventh consecutive semester, the volleyball student-athletes recorded the highest team GPA with a 3.636. Gymnastics posted a 3.415 while soccer earned a 3.349, its highest-ever GPA since the sport was added seven years ago. Softball had a 3.085, and basketball finished with a 2.919.

There were 84 Pioneer student-athletes in the spring and 77 percent of them posted a 3.0 or better.

Individually, 13 student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA for the spring semester: two from basketball – Keshia Bolds and Lara Gilliam; three from gymnastics – Alexa Brennan, Keri Miller and Leslie Pladson; two from soccer – Amanda Allen and Alyssa Bustamante; two from softball – Amy Menge and Kallie Porter; and four from volleyball – Kendra Coulson, Katelyn Osborne, Danielle Veitenheimer and Sydney Veitenheimer.
