TWU gymnastics drops dual meet at Sacramento State
SACRAMENTO, California (March 12) – The Texas Woman’s University gymnastics team fell to the host Sacramento State, 192.600-191.550, on Friday night at the Hornets Nest in Sacramento, CA.

The Pioneers captured two of the four events including a sweep on vault. Sophomore Marcella Fallon won the vault title with a 9.775 while freshmen Amy Winczura and Kristin Edwards placed second and third respectively with scores of 9.750 and 9.725.

Freshman Brittany Johnson took the bars title for the second straight meet with a score of 9.825. Junior Kristie Costa finished third on beam with a TWU-best 9.700. Sophomore Rashonda Cannie led the Pioneers on floor with 9.700 to place fourth on the event.

“We started out strong and led after two events but gave it away in the final two events,” said TWU head coach Frank Kudlac. “We did not compete well when the meet was on the line. Hopefully we can bounce back and have a better performance on Sunday.”

The Pioneers will wrap-up their west coast trip with a triangular meet at UC-Davis with California on Sunday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m. (PST).
