DENTON, Texas (March 10) – Texas Woman's University will host the 2010 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships April 15-17, 2010, and fans can now purchase their general admission tickets online at the official championship website
2010usagnationals.com.
“We’re excited that our championship website is now live and taking ticket orders,” Director of Athletics Chalese Connors said. “The buzz and excitement about these championships is increasing daily. We’ve been getting calls about tickets and we’re happy to tell everyone that you can go online and buy them.”
TWU and the
Greater Denton Sports Commission are co-hosting this event for a record fifth time, and the Pioneers are vying for their 10th national team title. TWU has won the USAG collegiate crown nine times in the last 16 years.
“To borrow from Dorothy, there’s no place like home,” Connors said. “Our fans create an amazing environment in the arena for the student-athletes. We want to pack the place with Pioneer supporters and I strongly urge people to buy their tickets now so they have a seat for this event. It’s not every day there’s a national championship decided in your town.”
A three-day championship pass is $25 for adults and $13 for students (ages 6-17) and senior citizens (ages 55+). Day pass prices are $10 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens. Children ages five and under will be admitted free for the entire event but do require a ticket which can also be purchased using the online ticket storefront.
All seating in Kitty Magee Arena will be general admission only.
Eight women’s teams and numerous individual qualifiers from across the country will compete for team and individual national titles at next month's event. Two team semifinal sessions for all participating squads and individual qualifiers will take place on Thursday, April 15 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. respectively (NOTE: TWU will compete in the 7:00 p.m. session). The top two teams from each semifinal session will advance to the team finals on Friday, April 16, at 7:00 p.m. The top 10 finishers (including ties) on each event from Thursday's semifinals will qualify for the individual event finals scheduled for Saturday, April 17, at 5:00.
The championship website was designed by Internet Consulting Services, the same company that designed the TWU Athletics website.
