Team GPAs hit the mark again in Fall

DENTON, Texas (March 1) – The student-athletes at TWU have once again demonstrated that they are successful in the classroom as well as in competition. The Pioneers recorded a 3.232 grade point average for the 2009 fall semester, making it the 55th consecutive semester – 27 ½ years – of a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
“Congratulations to these young women who strive for excellence in everything they do,” Director of Athletics Chalese Connors said. ”Being a student-athlete is challenging. I’m proud of what this group accomplishes day in and day out.”
TWU Volleyball recorded the highest team GPA of 3.492 for the sixth consecutive semester. Gymnastics finished a close second with 3.313 grade point average followed by Softball with 3.223, Basketball with 3.145, and Soccer with 2.988.
Additionally, 13 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall: Leslie Pladson from gymnastics; Madisen Burrows, Natalie Cervantes, Natalie Holovach, Jacqueline Horner, and Jesseca Olmstead from soccer; Billie Callahan, Amy Menge, and Kallie Porter from softball; and Kendra Coulson, Jessica Crow, Katelyn Osborne, and Dani Veitenheimer from volleyball.
