Pioneers advance to LSC Tournament with highest seed in school history

DENTON, Texas (Feb. 27) – The Texas Woman’s University basketball team will advance to the 2010 Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament in Bartlesville, OK on March 4-7. It’s the first appearance for the Pioneers since 2005-06 season and eighth overall.

TWU closed out the regular season with a 15-11 overall record and 9-5 in the Lone Star Conference North Division. The nine conference wins are most in school history breaking the record set in 1989-90 with eight wins.

The Pioneers will the number-three seed in the North Division. It’s TWU’s highest seed in the LSC Tournament and will face No. 2 Tarleton State from the South Division on Thursday, March 4 at Noon. The winner will take on the winner of North No. 1 Northeastern State versus South No. 4 Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday at Noon. The championship game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

All the championship games will be aired live via internet video streaming HERE. The webcasts are available free of charge. Each webcast includes both video and audio, with viewers needing only a computer with a high-speed DSL or cable modem connection to the internet. Veteran broadcaster Chris Needham has the call for all the games.
