Cochefski twins sign National Letters of Intent with TWU gymnastics
DENTON, Texas (Nov. 19) - Courtney and Victoria Cochefski (Chicago, IL/St. Charles) have signed national letters of intent with the TWU gymnastics program, head coach Frank Kudlac announced Thursday morning. The Cochefski twins will join the Pioneers in the fall of 2010.

Courtney and Victoria are Level 10 USA Gymnastics (USAG) competitors at Phenom Gymnastics in Aurora, IL. Over the past three years, they have qualified for the Level 9 and 10 Region 5 Championships respectively. Both are members of National Honor Society (NHS) and honor roll students at St. Charles East High School.

“We are extremely excited to have Courtney and Tori joining our team,” said TWU gymnastics assistant coach Lisa Klein. “In addition to being outstanding gymnasts,they are also extremely well-rounded girls who possess the entire package that we are looking for in our student-athletes.”

Courtney is in her second year as a Level 10 competitor. She finished ninth in the All-Around competition at the 2009 State Championship as well as seventh on floor and 10th on vault, bars and beam. In 2006 as a Level 9 competitor, she placed second on bars at the Regional Championship and Eastern Championship.

Victoria is also in her second year as a Level 10 competitor. She placed eighth in all-around competition, fifth on bars, sixth on floor, and 12th on vault and beam at the 2009 State Championships. In 2008, Victoria finished fifth on bars at the Regional Championship. As a Level 9 competitor in 2007, she finished second on bars and fourth on floor at the Eastern Championship.

“Both girls (Courtney and Victoria) have a deep love for the sport of gymnastics and for becoming the best athletes that they can possibly be,” said Klein. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to help them reach all of their goals and to watch them reach new heights as Pioneers.”

The Cochefski twins are also involved in the community service including ‘Beanies for Baghdad’ project. They have collected over 600 beanie babies which will be distributed to children in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kosovo by the US soldiers.
